Ofcom published today its Television Broadcast Licensing update for January 2008.
Separately, Ofcom published variations to the Grampian (stv North), Scottish (stv Central) and Ulster (UTV) broadcast licences. The licence variations reduce the minimum regional news requirement by 10 minutes a week to take account of changes in Ofcom's methodology in calculating the number of hours broadcast. These changes took effect at the beginning of 2007 following the introduction of a new data collection and reporting system and the licence variation has been back-dated to reflect this. The changes are not intended to result in any change to the volume of regional news required on screen.

6 out of 10 people don't know what Audio Description is. Do you?
Audio Description (AD) is a free TV service available on over 70 channels for people who have difficulty seeing what is happening on the screen. Like a narrator telling a story, an additional commentary describes body language, expressions and movements - allowing you to hear what you might not be able to see, so you don't miss a thing.
Audio Description: making the story clearer
