Ofcom is today inviting declarations of intent to apply for the FM local commercial radio licence for the Wigan area, currently held by 102.4 Wish FM Limited. The current licence will expire in March 2009.

Separately, Ofcom received one declaration of intent for the Kingston-Upon-Thames FM commercial radio licence from the current licensee, Radio Jackie Limited. Ofcom is therefore inviting Radio Jackie Limited to reapply for the licence under the 'fast-track' procedure as set out in Ofcom's guidelines.
All commercial radio licences which are re-awarded under existing statutory legislation will be granted for a five-year period or with an expiry date of 31 December 2015 (whichever constitutes a longer period.)
