Separately, Ofcom has updated its planned timetable for the advertisement of new DAB radio multiplex licences. The planned licence for York & Scarborough has now been replaced with a licence for North Yorkshire. In addition, the planned licences for Guildford and for Reigate & Crawley will be advertised as a single licence designed to cover principally the county of Surrey and parts of the counties of West Sussex and East Sussex.

The changes have been made in order to enhance the likely demand for the provision of local DAB services in these areas.

In addition Ofcom has published a DAB bit-rate calculator, which can be used to calculate varying options regarding the number of services which can be accommodated on a digital radio multiplex, depending on the bit-rate which is allocated to each service.
